LearnWorlds features an Interactive Video Editor with advanced functionalities and a convenient sidebar menu, allowing you to easily add elements like subtitles to your videos.
In this article, we will explore how to auto-generate, translate, or upload subtitles to your course videos and see useful tips and considerations. Adding subtitles is crucial as it enhances accessibility, improves viewer comprehension, and caters to a broader audience, including those with hearing impairments.
To autogenerate (available in Learning Center plans or higher), translate, and upload subtitles (available in Pro trainer plans or higher):
1. Select a course and navigate to the Course outline.
2. Hover over the video learning activity and click on Edit video.
3. Click on Subtitles and transcript.
4. Subtitles can be uploaded from your device, autogenerated based on the language of the video, or translated using AI.
Autogenerate Subtitles
Click on Autogenerate, select the language of the video (since the autogenerate option is only available for the video's language), and click on Autogenerate. The process may take a few minutes.
Upload subtitles
Click on Select .srt file, add the file, and click on Upload .srt. You may also use this option to upload several multilingual subtitles.
- Our subtitles service is available only for videos hosted in the LearnWorlds video library.
- You can have one subtitle .srt file per language uploaded at any given time.
- The filename should not contain any special characters (characters like â, è, ü, etc are not supported).
- You can always validate your .srt file and check if any errors may occur with a free tool such as validator.subtitledpro.com.
Once ready, subtitles should be proofread (since the whole process is automated by the system, proofreading will help to better the syntax and grammar of the text). When you are ready, ensure to turn it to Public, to appear in the video player.
Subtitles’ text can be edited (cloned, formatted with the help of the main top bar, and then refreshed, which will remove all the formatting), replaced, downloaded, deleted, and you can also generate a transcript out of them.
In the course player, users can choose the language (from the ones provided by you) or completely turn it off.
The Course Player retains a user's selected subtitle choice across all videos, ensuring consistency in subtitle choices for each video.
AI-Powered Subtitle Translation
With LearnWorlds' AI-powered subtitle translation, you can easily provide multilingual subtitles for your videos, making your courses accessible to a global audience. This feature helps break language barriers, improve learner comprehension, and enhance engagement.
To translate subtitles using AI:
1. Click on AI Assistant in the subtitle settings.
2. Choose the subtitle you want to use.
3. Select the target language for the translation.
4. Click Generate, and let the AI create subtitles in the selected language.

Transcript
Once you've created your subtitles, you can also display or use the transcript in your videos. To enable or disable this feature, click on Subtitles and Transcript. Make sure to activate your subtitles first, as the transcript feature relies on them.
The transcript is generated directly from your subtitles, so any changes made to the subtitles will automatically update the transcript as well. If you have subtitles in multiple languages, you can choose to display the transcript in one of those languages.
