Instructor Support Guide

This article is a guide, that can be shared with the Instructors to assist with their training. We recommend that school administrators extract the relevant settings and information from this article and share it with their instructors, enabling them to get the most out of the platform.

Instructor Role Overview

As an instructor in LearnWorlds, you have access to tools and features that allow you to:

  • Manage courses: You can develop assigned courses, add content (videos, PDFs, quizzes), and organize lessons.
  • Interact with students: You can monitor student progress, provide feedback, and facilitate discussion through comments and live sessions.
  • Collaborate with other instructors: Share the workload by co-teaching with other instructors on the platform.

In some cases, your administrator may adjust your permissions to align with the scope of your responsibilities. For example, by default, the instructor role cannot create new courses. However, you can consult with your administrator to review and modify your permissions, allowing you to perform additional actions if needed.

Navigating the LearnWorlds Dashboard

Once you log in, you'll be directed to the instructor dashboard, where you can access all the core functions you’ll need:

  • Courses: View and manage the courses assigned to you. You can create new courses or edit existing ones depending on the permissions.
  • Content Upload: Add different types of learning materials (e.g., videos, PDFs, quizzes, and exams) to build an interactive and dynamic learning experience.
  • Students: Monitor student engagement, track their progress, and manage communication through messages and comments.
  • Analytics: Use data to assess student performance and engagement, enabling you to make informed adjustments to your course content.

Courses: Step-by-Step Guide

Creating a course with LearnWorlds' intuitive course builder is easy. As an instructor, depending on the permissions that have been assigned to you, you'll already have a course assigned to you, which you can edit and customize to suit your needs.

1. Navigate to your Course: Click on Courses Course Manager and choose the course you want to edit.

2. Add Course Content: Organize your course into sections to make it easy for learners to navigate. Here, you can explore the available course activities that you can include. In order to do so,

  • Click on Add Section to begin. You can also utilize the AI feature to assist you in creating your sections and activities or import a section from another course for a smoother workflow.
  • You are now ready to add your activities. You might begin with an ebook, a video introduction, or a live session—whatever best suits your needs. Click on Add Activity and choose the option you prefer.

3. Set Up Course Settings: Customize your course settings, such as pricing (if applicable), access to the course, and completion criteria.

Engaging Your Students

Effective teaching goes beyond delivering content; it also involves creating an interactive and supportive learning environment. LearnWorlds offers a variety of tools to help you engage students:

  • Discussion Forums & Comments: If discussion threads are enabled for each lesson, be sure to use them, as they provide an opportunity for students to ask questions and collaborate with their peers.
  • Live Sessions: Schedule live classes or Q&A sessions with your students using our integrated video conferencing tools. You can set up automatic reminders to keep students informed of upcoming events.
  • Assessments: Add graded assessments or self-assessments to gauge student understanding and track their progress in real time.
  • Certification: Incorporate certificates to motivate students and celebrate their achievements.

Managing Your Courses

Here are some key features to help you stay organized and on track:

  • Course Updates: Edit or update your course content anytime. You can add new materials or make improvements based on student feedback.
  • Student Progress Tracking: Use the built-in analytics to track how far students have progressed and which sections are challenging.
  • Grade Assessments: When users submit an exam, you can review and grade it. You can do so from inside your course under Insights â†’ Pending Reviews

Revenue Share and Payments (If Applicable)

If you are part of a revenue-sharing plan, LearnWorlds automatically calculates the revenue you earn based on your assigned percentage for each course. While the platform handles revenue calculation, the payments are processed manually outside the system. You can always contact your admin for specific details on how your revenue share is managed.

Best Practices for New Instructors

Here are a few tips to help you get off to a smooth and successful start:

  • Plan your course structure: Map out your course sections and content before building the course.
