Credly is a digital credentialing platform that allows you to create, issue, and manage certificates and badges for your students. By integrating Credly with your LearnWorlds school, you can automatically issue digital certificates to students once they complete courses. This feature brings value by offering a seamless and automated way to reward students with professional, shareable credentials that highlight their achievements.

In this article, we will guide you through integrating Credly with your LearnWorlds school and configuring digital certificates for your courses.
Retrieve Your API Key from Credly
Navigate to Credly where you can either create a new account or sign in to your existing one. To enable the integration, you will need your Organization ID and API Token. To retrieve these:
1. Go to Organization → Developers → Authorization Tokens.
2. Locate the required details and copy both the Organization ID and API Token for later use.
Activate Credly Integration in LearnWorlds
1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Digital Credentials and locate the Credly integration.
2. Click on the Activate button to enable Credly for your LearnWorlds school.
3. Once activated, paste the organization ID and the API token you have pasted from your Credly account. Click on Save and you are ready to go.
You can improve the integration by allowing your school to receive system notifications from Credly events. To achieve this, you can add the following Webhook URL to your Credly account’s developer settings; this way, actions such as deleting a user’s badge in Credly will automatically be reflected in LearnWorlds.
To configure the Webhook URL in Credly, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Profile Settings → Organization → Developers → Webhooks → Callback URL.
2. Add the Webhook URL (located on the Digital Credentials integration page, shown above)
3. You can select and define for which events you want your school to be notified. We currently support the events for when a badge is deleted or when the badge state gets updated.
This setup ensures seamless integration between Credly and LearnWorlds for managing badge-related events.
Set Up Certificates in Credly
Navigate to Organization → Badges → Create Template.
Fill in your information and click on Save. Once your Template is set up, you can return to your school and proceed to configure your Certificate Activity. You can find more information about how to create your templates here.
Configure Certificates in LearnWorlds
Once you've successfully linked your Credly account, you can assign the certificates you've created in Credly to your activities.
1. Navigate to the course you want to edit.
2. Go to the course outline tab and locate the certificate activity you want to use. Hover over the activity and click on Settings.
3. Choose the Certificate details between the:
- School certificate
- Accredible credentials
- Credly credentials
After you choose the Credly option, a drop-down menu will appear displaying all available certificates you've created. Choose the one you want to use.
4. Click on the Save button.
Click on Edit Certificate within the Certificate Activity. This will allow you to customize the induced questions if this is a certificate of knowledge and/or candidate's details, as well as the starting and ending screens. For more detailed guidance, you can find additional information here.
Use Custom Fields in Credly
If you are using custom fields in your certificates, or custom sign up fieldsin your school they will automatically be included in your Credly issued certificates as evidence fields. For example, if you ask users for their date of birth through a custom field, that information will appear as information in the public certificate view without requiring any additional steps
Manage Certificates
Like default certificates, you can navigate to the Certificates page to review them. On this page, you have the option to edit or delete certificates as needed. You'll also find detailed information, including the user's name, the course name, the issue date, the actual certificate file, and the score (if applicable). User Experience
Users need to fill in their information to claim their certificate. Once it's ready, they click on the Open Certificate button, which will redirect them to Credly, where they can view their certificate.
After receiving their certificate, learners can also find it on their profile page. They can simply click on the link and be instantly redirected to their certificate.
