How to Enable Users to React to Your Videos with Emojis and Comments

With LearnWorlds’ interactive video tool, you can empower your users to engage with course videos like never before. By enabling reactions (emojis) and comments, you foster a collaborative and engaging learning environment where students can share their thoughts or express their emotions through emojis.

When a user reacts to a video, their input becomes visible to all other users enrolled in the same course, creating a sense of connection and shared learning.

In this article, we will explore how to enable the option for users to react to your videos with emojis and comments for all videos or specific videos within your course.

Why Enable Reactions and Comments?

Allowing users to react to videos with emojis and share comments provides numerous benefits:

  • Enhanced Engagement: Reactions make video learning more dynamic and fun.
  • Collaborative Learning: Comments allow users to exchange ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback, fostering interaction within your learning community.
  • Immediate Feedback: As a course creator, you gain insights into how learners feel about specific video content.

Enabling Reactions and Comments for All Videos

To enable reactions and comments across all your course videos:

1. Go to SettingsVideo Player Setup.

2. Locate the Comments & Emojis section.

3. Enable/disable either one or both, depending on your needs.

You can choose whether to allow users to add comments or emoji reactions on the video timeline. Additionally, you can decide where these comments and reactions will be displayed—either in the video controls bar or in a separate floating bar.

Click the Save button to apply the changes.

Enabling Reactions and Comments for Individual Videos

If you prefer to enable this feature for specific videos rather than all videos, navigate to the Courses tab in your dashboard, and select the course containing the video you wish to edit.

1. Hover over the video learning activity and click on Edit video to open the video editor.

2. Click on Video and locate the Comments & Reactions settings.

You have the option to either inherit the settings configured in your school’s general settings or customize them for this specific video. If you want to apply unique settings for this video, disable the "Inherit from School Settings" option and customize the features below:

  • Learners can add comments on the video timeline: Enable this option to let learners add comments directly on the video timeline.
  • Learners can add emoji reactions on the video timeline: Allow learners to react with emojis on specific points of the video timeline.

Once you’ve made your selections, don’t forget to click Save to apply the changes.

All comments and reactions are visible only to users enrolled in the same course.
