Biometric authentication lets learners log in to your mobile app quickly and securely using their face or fingerprint. Instead of typing in passwords every time, they can unlock access with a simple glance or touch, making learning more seamless and stress-free.
This feature is especially handy if they've been logged out after a session timeout. It saves time and keeps their experience smooth and secure.
Examples/Use Cases
- Quick Re-Entry: After being logged out due to inactivity, learners can re-enter the app with a single touch or glance.
- Enhanced Security: Ensures only the learner can access the app using their unique biometrics.
- Ease of Access: Eliminates the need to remember and enter login credentials every time.
- Session Control: Works effectively with features like “Force logout” to maintain secure but convenient app access.
In this article, we will learn how to enable biometric authentication for your mobile app users and guide learners on how to set it up on their devices.
Configuring Biometric Authentication for Mobile App Users
To offer biometric login to your learners, follow these steps:
Log in to your LearnWorlds Admin Dashboard.
Navigate to:
Mobile App → App Settings → Sign in/Sign up.Toggle Biometric Authentication ON.
Once activated, learners will see the biometric login option on their app’s login screen.
Setting up Fingerprint and Face ID as a User
Learners need to make sure their devices are ready before using biometric login. Here’s how:
For iOS Users:
Enable Face ID or Touch ID in your iPhone settings (availability depends on your device model). For Android Users:
Android 10 and above: Face ID and fingerprint options (depending on the device).
Android 9 and below: Fingerprint only.
If biometrics are not set up yet, the app will prompt learners to enable them on their device first.
Once fingerprint or face ID is set up in device settings, the user can allow your mobile app to enable biometric authentication. After clicking enable, a biometric authentication setting will be enabled in the app settings.
Using Biometric Login
Once enabled, learners will see the biometric login option on the app’s login screen. They can log in using their fingerprint or Face ID. If preferred, learners can disable the biometric login feature anytime through the app settings.
