How to Use the Automatic Enrollment Buttons

We’re rolling out a major upgrade! If you started your trial on or after June 2, 2025, you’ll notice some exciting new features as part of our latest release. Some articles already reflect the new experience, while others are being updated.

The Automatic Enrollment (System) Button is designed to simplify your users’ payment and navigation experience for both Courses and Learning Programs. It ensures that:

  • Unenrolled users can easily purchase or enroll in a product.
  • Enrolled users are seamlessly directed to continue learning from where they left off

These buttons automatically adapt based on the user's status and the product type (Course or Program), providing a smooth, intuitive flow from browsing to learning.

You can find and use the Automatic Enrollment Button in the following sections:

  • Hero Section of Course and Learning Program Layout pages
  • Products (Course & Program Cards) section
  • Buttons for Enrollment widget

In this article, we will learn how to use the Automatic Enrollment Buttons to enhance your purchase and navigation flow.

Examples/Use Cases

  • A non-enrolled user clicks "Enroll" and is taken to the payment page.
  • After a user buys the course, the button automatically changes to "Continue" and directs them to the course.
  • For free courses, users can instantly enroll and access the course with one click.
  • The button disappears if the course is not available (e.g., Private, Coming Soon, Enrollment Closed).
  • It adjusts based on user progress, sending them back to where they last left off in the course.

How the Automatic Button Works

Here’s how the button behaves dynamically:

  • Unenrolled Users: The button appears as Enroll and directs users to the payment or free enrollment page.
  • Enrolled Users: The button changes to Continue and takes them directly to the Course or Program Player, resuming from their last activity.
  • Free Courses or Programs: The button enrolls users instantly and switches to Continue.
  • Unavailable Products: The button is hidden if the product is marked as Private, Coming Soon, or Enrollment Closed.
  • Progress Tracking: The button redirects returning users to their last completed activity, or the first activity if they're new.

Hero Section & Automatic System Button

In both Course and Learning Program Layout pages, adding a Hero Section enables the Automatic System Button to control purchase and access.

  1. Unenrolled Users: The button appears as Enroll and directs them to the payment page.
  2. Enrolled Users: It changes from Enroll to Continue and directs them to the course player to continue learning.

  • If the course is Free, the Enroll button won't direct users to the Payment page, but it will immediately enroll them in the course for free without purchase and will switch directly from Enroll to a Continue button.
  • The Automatic Enrollment Button is available for both Paid and Free courses, but will disappear for courses that aren't open for enrollment (e.g., Private, Coming Soon, Enrollment Closed).
  • The button displays the course price, including any discounts.
  • The payment flow might vary depending on your school's setup.
  • The button directs users to their last visited activity or the first activity if they're new to the course.
  • If you wish to change the wording of the button, navigate to the Site language and make the necessary changes.

Products (Course Catalogue/Cards) & Automatic System Button

The Products section—available as Course Catalogue or Program Cards includes the Automatic Enroll Buttons, which are eye-catching to the potential buyer.

Once you add this section to your homepage, login page, or courses page, users will see the Automatic Enroll Button on course cards. Here's how it works:

  • Unenrolled Users: The button appears as Enroll, and when clicked, it leads to the payment page.
  • Enrolled Users: It changes to Continue and allows them to access the course content.

You can customize the button’s actions by editing the course card. You can choose where the button directs users based on their enrollment status:

For non-enrolled users, you can send them to:

  • Overview: Go to the Course/Program Layout Page.
  • Checkout: To the Payment page to purchase the relevant product (unenrolled users).

For enrolled users, you can send them to:

  • Overview: Go to the Course/Program Layout Page.
  • Course/Program Player: Resume content directly (free previews available for non-buyers)

You can also choose to hide the price and progress bar under the card appearance settings.

Buttons for Enrollment widget

You can add a Buttons for Enrollment widget on any page to provide quick access to courses or learning programs. After adding the widget, select the relevant product for the button.

Custom Enrollment Buttons

If you want to set up custom navigation instead of using the default Automatic System (Enroll) Button, you can add a Custom Button through the Buttons Widget. This is particularly useful when using an external payment method.

For example, in case you are using an External Payment method and not the integrated Payment Gateways, if the External Payment Gateway supports payment URLs, change the button's text to e.g. Enroll, redirect users to the external payment checkout for the desired course, and set the visibility of the custom button to unenrolled users.

Unlike the Automatic Button, the Custom Button won't automatically change from Enroll to Continue.
