Quick Start Guide 5: Set Up Payments

You’ve created your first course, now it’s time to get ready to sell it! This guide will walk you through choosing how to offer your products, setting your currency, connecting payment methods, and making a test sale to confirm everything works.

Step 1: Choose How to Offer Your Product

Each course or learning program can be offered in different ways, depending on your business model.

Main pricing options:

  • Free: Allow learners to enroll at no cost.

  • One-Time Payment: Learners pay once for unlimited access.

  • Subscription: Charge learners on a recurring basis (monthly, yearly, etc.) by creating a Learning Program and offering it as a subscription.

  • Payment Plan: Split a one-time fee into smaller installments.

Advanced Tips:

  • Use Learning Programs to bundle multiple courses and sell them as packages (e.g., certification tracks or team training bundles) (Pro Trainer plan and above).
  • Offer your courses with flexible discounts. You can set up automatic discounts, create coupon codes, build bundle offers, or even combine them with subscriptions through your learning programs.

Step 2: Connect a Payment Method

LearnWorlds integrates with several secure payment gateways so you can accept payments worldwide.

Go to Settings  Financial  Payment Gateways.

Supported gateways include:

  • Stripe – Accepts credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and more.

  • PayPal – Popular global option.

  • Shopify – Ideal for selling courses alongside physical products.

Advanced Tip: Use multiple gateways (e.g., Stripe and PayPal) to give learners more options and maximize conversions. Note that Shopify cannot be connected alongside other payment methods.

Step 3: Set Your School’s Currency

Before accepting payments, make sure your school’s currency is correctly set.

Go to Settings  Financial Currency.

What to do:

  • Select the currency you want to charge learners in (USD, EUR, GBP, etc.) that is supported by your payment method.

  • Set the currency symbol and its position.

  • Choose to display the "Terms & Conditions" checkbox to users as a prerequisite before buying a product.

Advanced Tip: Choose a currency that matches your target market. For global audiences, consider setting up multiple schools in different regions.

Step 4: Make a Test Sale

Before launching, run a test purchase to ensure everything works smoothly.

Go to Settings  Financial  Payment Gateways.

What to do:

  1. Enable the Sandbox mode.

  2. Complete a test purchase using test credit card details.

  3. Verify that enrollment and confirmation emails are sent correctly.

  • A test sale helps you confirm the full payment flow, from checkout to course access, before real customers arrive.
  • You can customize the Payment section of your products to best fit your sales model.
