Cookies are small files dropped on your computer or device by your website when a user visits certain parts of your school and/or when they use certain features of it. They are harmless bits of text that are locally stored and can easily be viewed and deleted by the user.

Why do you need the consent of your school users regarding cookies?

In general, the majority of cookies are not used for marketing reasons, however, sometimes can be used by third parties in order to identify the users’ activity, and therefore they are subject to the GDPR. Consequently, you have to receive the user’s consent in order to have them activated on their end.

How can a user accept your school’s cookies?

Cookies opt-in

To activate the Cookies opt-in navigate to "Settings" - "Privacy/GDPR" and select either all the GDPR settings or just the “Cookies” through the “Custom Data Management”.

When “cookies” are activated on each page of your school a message will pop up, prompting the users to Accept the cookies by clicking on the “Got it!” button. Once clicked, the pop-up message will not appear again.

The users before accepting the cookies can click on “Learn more”, and the “Cookie Policy” will pop up, allowing them to read all the needed information.

Note: To help you out, LearnWorlds offers a default template for your cookie policy. Please note, however, that this text doesn't constitute legal advice. Make sure to customize the text to include your own business details and also, where required, to match your particular business needs. The displayed text can be edited by navigating to Site Builder - “Edit School Site” then on the search bar on the top left type in "Cookies" for the "Cookie Policy" page to show up. There you can just replace the needed variables or add a whole new “Cookie Policy” text.

In case the users wish to accept specific cookies and not all of them, they can click on “Accept individual cookies”...

… and choose the preferable cookies in the pop-up window among:

Note: Necessary cookies are not optional as they are connected to the functionality of your website.

How can a user change the “Cookies” activation?

When a user wants to change this cookies selection later, they can achieve that by navigating to their "Profile" page (and then clicking on “Edit”). In the Privacy setting tab, they will be able to edit all the relevant cookie choices.
