Graded SCORMs are SCORM packages designed for assessment rather than just content delivery. They include scoring features that track learner performance, making it easy to measure progress and align results with learning goals. In LearnWorlds, Graded SCORMs enhance SCORM activities by sending Score and Pass/Fail data directly to the Gradebook, supporting accountability and structured evaluation.
In this article, we will learn how to upload a Graded SCORM package, configure its scoring and pass/fail settings, understand the impact of updating an existing SCORM file, and explore plan limitations and how retries function within the Gradebook.
Uploading a Graded SCORM Package
To upload your Graded SCORM package:
1. Go to the Course Outline tab in the course you wish.
2. Click on Add an Activity under a created section.
3. Select the Graded SCORM package under the Exams category.
4. Give a title and click Save to create your Graded SCORM package.
5. Click on Settings to edit the package.
Configuring Your Graded SCORM Settings
Hover over the Graded SCORM activity and click on Settings to upload and modify your Graded SCORM package's settings.
1. Upload a SCORM package. Make sure your SCORM file supports scores and/or pass/fail values. Supported versions:
- SCORM 1.2
- SCORM 2004
2. Add a title and description: Use clear titles and short descriptions to help learners understand the activity.
3. Choose whether to collect scores: Toggle Collect score from SCORM package ON if you want scores to be automatically recorded in the Gradebook.
4. Enable SCORM's internal Pass/Fail rules: Turn this ON to use the pass/fail rules defined inside the SCORM file.
5. Set a passing score:
- If SCORM internal pass/fail is OFF or not defined in the SCORM, set your own passing percentage (e.g., 70%).
- If Collect score is OFF and Pass/Fail is ON, LearnWorlds will assign a score of 100 for pass and 0 for fail.
6. Enable time tracking: This tracks how long users spend on the activity. Make sure your SCORM package supports this feature and that everything is configured successfully in your SCORM package.
Updating an Existing Graded SCORM Package
If you choose to update a GRADED SCORM file to a newer version, a message will pop up to select if the Gradebook overview will keep the scores users have already achieved by completing the previous version of the uploaded SCORM file or reset them.
- Keep Score: The current Gradebook scores remain, but if users retake the activity, the score resets to 0.
- Reset Scores: A new Gradebook entry is created, and previous scores are cleared.
SCORM Limitations/Plan Availability
• The Pro Trainer plan has 20 SCORM package limitations and a 2GB total size limit.
• The Learning Center and higher plans have the option of an unlimited number of SCORM files and unlimited combined size in total (fair use policies apply).
• For individual SCORM package uploads, there is a size limit of 400MB per file.
• Trials can upload up to 3 SCORM packages with a 400 MB size limitation.
Gradebook Notes for Graded SCORMs
If an admin adds a retry, the student can retake the quiz, and the score will update based on the new attempt.
If an admin manually enters a score, it becomes locked. New attempts won’t override it unless:
The admin adds a new retry without setting a score. Then, the next attempt will be recorded.
