How to Review your Video Statistics

Video is one of the most powerful tools for course creators, offering a more engaging sensory experience. With video statistics, school admins can analyze users' viewing behavior, identify weak points, and pinpoint where users tend to drop off.

You may access the "video stat" icon in two different ways:

a. The Video Library

Navigate to the course in which you wish to monitor video statistics and select the Video Library tab. The video stats icon is on the top right of each video.

b. Course Outline

Select the course and choose the Course Outline tab. By hovering your mouse over the video learning activity you will find the video stats icon.

Both options will open the same video statistics window. These are the statistics data you can retrieve.

1. Average Engagement

Average engagement shows how much of a video your students have watched. It is calculated by taking the number of hours watched divided by the Total Plays when multiplied by the Video Length.

2. Total Plays

This is the number of times a video has been played/watched. It is a cumulative number and a unique student might add multiple plays to this number by rewatching your lectures.

3. Play Rate

The play rate describes how many times the video started over how many times the page has been visited. This is for cases where you have disabled video autoplay for your courses, and the student needs to click to play the video.

4. Engagement Graph

The engagement graph allows you to see how your audience is watching your video. You can see which sections of your video are being watched multiple times and where the students drop off. Spikes and drop-offs are highly important points.

Spikes can indicate interest or a difficult point for a student, while drop-offs can signal the loss of interest, a tiresome subject, or a call to action toward another page of your school.

Viewers – How many people watched up to what percentage of the video.

Rewatches – Points on a video that has been watched multiple times.

5. HeatMap

Heatmaps are a second-by-second representation of your students’ watching journey. They are color-coded based on how many times a student rewatched part of the video. They can be used to drill down to an individual student’s viewing and intervene if needed. You will also be able to see detailed information such as:

  • The name or email of a student
  • The location
  • Device information
  • The percentage of the video they have viewed (completion)
  • Skipped parts (white graph)
  • Page/course unit they have watched the video
  • Last watched date/time

Notes:

  • If you have enabled the GDPR Toolkit in your school, the users will need to accept the Analytics cookies in order for you to view their usernames in video analytics. If the user has excluded the "Analytics" cookies, they will be recorded as "School Member" in video analytics, instead of their actual username.
  • This feature is available only for videos that are uploaded on the LearnWorlds platform and for schools that were created after January 2019.
If you have cloned your LearnWorlds school, videos are shared among the cloned schools, with the provision that video analytics are filtered based on the respective domain. Only views specific to the domain of the video are displayed. It's important to note that the total number of views presented reflects the cumulative statistic across all videos, rather than being segmented per domain.
