In order to add a learning unit to a course, click on the "Add an activity" option.





Video


In LearnWorlds you can either directly upload a video file and use it in your courses (following this article) or include an existing video that is stored in vimeo.com.


Here is how you can use an existing video from vimeo.com:



1) Click on the video option in the "Insert a learning unit" sideform that show up once the "Add an activity" option is clicked.




2) Insert the title, the description of the video, the vimeo id, and click "Get video duration". You can change the default icon of the unit as well.

     



3) To store your video just click the "Save" button.



 

You have just added your first video learning unit inside your course's contents!

Ebook


The eBook learning unit is a learning object for presenting textual information. You can easily import your existing text and present it by using tens of eye-catching and responsive templates. Your learners will love the reading experience, as well as the highlighting and note-taking tools. 



1) To add a new ebook click on the "ebook" option in the “Insert a Learning Unit” sideform.




2) Then you have to give a title and a description for your ebook.

  



3) To complete the adding process, press "Save".




You have just created your first ebook! Now you can click on the "Edit ebook" button to start importing your text and designing your ebook.

Quiz


This is a self-assessment quiz which consists of multiple choice and true/false questions.


Please note that quizzes are not formal exams. Learners get immediate feedback for their answers but they do not get a score after completing a quiz. If you want to create a formal test then have a look at the exam learning unit which is described after the quiz learning unit.


1) To create a quiz click at the quiz option.

               


 

2) Give a title and a description to your quiz and click "Save".


       

Your first quiz has just been created!!


3) To edit the quiz click the "Edit questions" button.

Exam


This learning unit can be used for creating formal tests. You can create any kind of test by managing settings such as the duration of the test, maximum number of tries, passing grade ,etc.



1)To create an exam click on the "exam" button in the "Insert a learning unit" sideform.




2) Give a title and a description to your exam and click on the "Save" button.



You have just added your first exam learning unit!


4) To edit your exam click on the "Edit questions" button.

Assignment


Assignments are open-ended (text) questions that your students have to answer by writing a paragraph of text.



1) To create an assignment click on the “Assignment” option, fill out the assignment title and click "Save".




2)  To edit your assignment click on the "Edit questions" button.

Certificate   


Certificates are formal exams and if they are completed successfully, learners get an award, which is a pdf certification file. So, each certificate is a formal test. If you simply want to include an awarded certificate at the end of a completed course, then checkout the "Certificate of Completion" learning unit. 

 

1) To create a certification exam for you course click on the certificate option. Gve it a title and specify the requirements your learners must meet in order to take the certification exam. You have 2 options. Your learners can take the certification exam either when they have taken all the questionnaires of your course (quizes,exams,assignments) or when they have attended all the learning units of the course.





To upload your pdf certification file that your users will get, click on the "Add a PDF certificate" section, and then press the "Add certificate" button. When the file has been uploaded press "Save".



If you want to give your learners the ability to share the awarded certification in their linkedin profile, you can click on the "Add to LinkedIn Profile" section and paste the appropriate code found here. This action will create a new linkedin button that your users can press in order to share their award to their Linkedin profile. This way you can viralize your online school! Students are always eager to showcase the latest skill or certification they acquired and course sellers are double happy, since their courses become viral and attract more and more eyeballs and sales :-) For more info about the share to linkedin button read the article that can be found here.



To edit the questions of your certification exam click on the "Edit questions" button.

Certificate of completion


"Certificates of completion" are awarded to students after they have finished studying a course (they have visited all the learning units or they have successfully passed all the tests of a course). 


1) 
To add a certificate of completion learning unit, click on the “certificate of completion” option.



2) Give it a title and specify the requirements your learners must meet in order to get the certificate. Upload the pdf file you want by clicking the "Add a PDF certificate" section, and Press "Save" when done. You can add a linkedin share button for your users as well, following the same process as the one in the certificate learning unit.



This kind of certificate has no questions to be edited. You just add it in your course when you want to award your learners with your certification.



Pdf

           

You can easily add PDF files in your courses, such as presentations, worksheets or even whole books.



1) To upload a pdf file just click on the pdf option. 



2) Give a title to your pdf file and insert the number of pages it consists of. Press "Select" to upload your pdf file from your system.



3) When your file has been uploaded, do not forget to press the "Save" button.





Every time you want to edit your pdf, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The above sideform will show up again.




Simple Text


Inserting a simple τext is as easy as it sounds.



1) Click on the “simple text” option.




2) Give a title to your new learning unit and write the text you would like to have. Click "Save" when done.




Every time you want to edit your text, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The above sideform will show up again.





Embed


Our platform supports embedding so you can import all sorts of web content to your courses, from google forms to presentations.



1) To insert an embed learning unit click on the "embed" option.




2) Insert the title you want, paste the embeddable code and click "Save".




Every time you want to edit your embed unit, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The above sideform will show up again.




Youtube


You can insert YouTube videos in your courses using the YouTube embeddable code.



1) Click on the “YouTube” option.




2) Insert the title and the embeddable code of your YouTube video and click "Save" when done.




Note: To find the embeddable code of the video you would like to embed, click on the "Share" option below the video player, then select the "Embed" tab, and copy the embeddable code.





Every time you want to edit your youtube video, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The sideform with the youtube unit info will show up again.




Slideshare


Using the embeddable code of a slideshare presentation you can easily include such a presentation in your courses. 



1) Click on the slideshare option that can be found in the "Insert a learning unit" sideform.




2) Then insert the title and the embeddable code of your presentation. Click "Save" when done.




Note: To find the embeddable code of the slideshare you would like to upload, press the "Share" button, and above that button a window including the embeddable code will show up. Grab the embeddable code and you are good to go! :-)




Every time you want to edit your presentation, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The sideform with the slideshare unit info will show up again.





SoundCloud


Using the embeddable code of a soundcloud track you can easily include it in your courses.



1) Click on the soundcloud option that can be found in the "Insert a learning unit" panel.




2) Then give a title to the new learning unit, paste the embeddable code of the soundcloud file and click "Save".




Note: To find the embeddable code of the soundcloud track you would like to upload, choose it from the SoundCloud website and then copy the embeddable code as shown below.



Firstly you have to click on the "Share" button.



And then you have to select the "Embed" tab.


Every time you want to edit your soundcloud unit, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The sideform with the soundcloud unit info will show up again.






Audio file


This option will give you the ability to include mp3 files you have stored in a server of yours.



1) Click on the "audio" option found in the "Insert a learning unit" sideform.




2) Give a title to the audio learning unit, paste the url where it is stored and press "Save".



Every time you want to edit your audio unit, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The sideform with the audio unit info will show up again.





External link

     

This option will give you the ability to include webpages as external sources in your courses.


1) Click on the "external link" option that can be found in the "Insert a learning unit" sideform.




2) Give a title to your unit and paste the URL of the desired page. Click "Save" when done.




Every time you want to edit your external link unit, hover your mouse over it and click on the small button with the pencil icon. The sideform with the external link unit info will show up again.
