How to Import and Sync Pages within the Same or Across Schools

At LearnWorlds, we are dedicated to enhancing your interaction with page content and streamlining the management of your page content. 

In this article, we will learn how to import/clone a page, allowing seamless transitions between schools within the same Organization or between Site Flavors of the same school, saving time and effort. 

We will also go through the sync feature, that enables the synchronization of the page content of the imported pages, thus promoting consistency but also improving collaboration and content management within the educational environment.

Import pages

To import or clone a page, you use the Import pages tool, facilitating the seamless replication of a page from one Site flavor to another within the same school. Furthermore, this tool extends its functionality beyond the confines of a single school, enabling you to import pages across various schools within the same Organization. Importantly, the theme of the imported page will seamlessly align with the Site flavor to which it has been imported, ensuring consistency in colors and fonts.

To import a page, you need to log in to the destination school. From your admin dashboard:

1. Navigate to  Website → Design →  Edit Website → Pages → click on plus icon (+) or Manage Pages or Add new→ Import pages.

2. Select the school from which you intend to import pages to the current school (you can also choose the same school) and indicate the Site flavor where the page currently resides. 

3. Select the page or pages you wish to import.

4. Click the Import button to initiate the process.

Import & Sync

If you aim to do more than just import pages and also wish to synchronize the page content, you can use the Import & Sync option. This feature allows you to employ the same page in as many site flavors and schools as you wish while synchronizing their content. Consequently, any changes made to the content of one page will seamlessly transfer to all synced peer pages, all while maintaining the theme of the respective Site flavor into which they are imported.

Unsync

Should you change your mind later on and wish to unsync a page without any concerns, rest assured, that we offer the functionality to unsynchronize the page from its group of peers (synced pages). To initiate the unsynchronization process:

1. Navigate to  Website → Design →  Edit Website → Pages → find the page you wish to unsync and click on three dots → Unsync page.

2. Navigate to Website → Design →  Edit Website → Pages → click on the page you wish to unsync. Click on Edit → Unsync page. 

3. Navigate to  Website → Design →  Edit Website → Pages → click on the page you wish to unsync. Click on Edit, to see the Synced page information table, where you can find the synced page information and unsync.

• The page custom code is also synced among synchronized peer pages.
• Page settings do not synchronize.
• System Pages (Home, After Login, Payment, Courses, Cookie Policy, Privacy, Terms & Conditions, Thank you), cannot be imported.
• For the page topbars, imagine you have 3 synced peer pages where the page content is the same (synced). Imagine that one of these pages is set to inherit the school topbar. and the other two pages have custom page topbar. The content of these topbars will sync between these two peer pages!
• We highly recommend not working on the import and sync features in multiple open tabs in your browser to avoid issues.

Sync Information table

You can see all of the information on the pages' sync, by navigating to the synced page you are interested in and clicking on Edit → Sync information. The sync info table, allows you to identify the synchronization peers for each page/course/section and learning activity, enabling a clear understanding of the impact each removal will have. 

Import/Sync permissions

• Organization owners/Super admins can import synced resources to/from the schools they own/manage, and edit them at any time, while having their changes propagate across all their synced peer pages, regardless of whether they have access to all the peer pages.
• School admins can import synced resources only from/to inside the school. Provided this resource remains synced only inside their school boundaries, they can also edit those resources and have their changes propagate to their peer pages.
• As soon a resource is cloned across multiple schools, it can only be edited by a super-admin or the organizational owner, as well as the users that have editing permissions on the original resource that got cloned.

Features per plan

If you are interested in purchasing the additional addon (it can be purchased monthly or yearly), navigate to My account → Account & Billing and choose the add-on under the Available Add ons.

Cross-school syncing is available for up to five schools within an organization, provided that one of the schools in the organization has purchased the corresponding add-on (Pro trainer plan or higher).
